CCMTA Composers Festival

The Clark County Music Teachers Association Composers Festival is a celebration of the music that has defined our music history and gives our students the opportunity to study works by the composers whose lives touched the timeline of each of the musical eras.  Students not only have the opportunity to perform in small group settings, but can learn about how their particular piece and composer's compositional techniques fit into a certain musical period.  The Festivals provide an additional "listening" opportunity for our students to hear the wealth of repertoire that exists for them, some of which may not be often played.

  • All students are encouraged to enter.
  • Student fees are determined by age. A teacher fee will apply.
  • Students are grouped according to age level. Participants are expected to stay for all the performances in their group. Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay.
  • All participants perform one piece from memory before an adjudicator.
  • Students may be evaluated in accurate reading, command of technique and interpretation.
  • Students should be prepared to answer simple questions about their composer's life and style of writing which is relevant to the era.
  • The adjudicator makes oral comments for the students after each student performs or at the end of the performances for that particular group.
  • CCMTA will present a certificate to each student participating.
